
Dr. Cooper Maher, an Assistant Professor in the School of Criminal Justice, is the recipient of the 2026 Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences’ Cybercrime, Terrorism, and Security Studies Section’s Early Career Award!
This award is reserved for scholars early in their careers who have already demonstrated strong contributions that have advanced cybercrime, terrorism, or security research. By receiving this award, Dr. Maher is joining previous inductees who have made strides in theoretical or research techniques in the field.
Dr. Maher says, “It is an incredible honor to even be considered for the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences Cybercrime, Terrorism, and Security Studies Section’s Early Career Award. I owe a tremendous thanks to everyone who has helped me achieve this honor, especially my amazing colleagues, mentors, and friends in the School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University and the School of Criminal Justice at the University of Cincinnati. I am grateful for this recognition and look forward to engaging in research relating to cybercrime and online victimization for years to come.”
Dr. Maher will be presented with his award at the Academy’s annual meeting in Philadelphia in March, 2026.
