Dr. Holt Receives Outstanding Mentor Award

Dr. Tom Holt has been awarded the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences' Outstanding Mentor Award.

Dr. Tom Holt, Professor in the School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University, has received the 2026 Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences’ Outstanding Mentor Award!  

The award is reserved for faculty who have displayed a level of mentorship of graduate students and junior faculty in the field of Criminal Justice that goes above and beyond what is expected of faculty. Throughout his career, Dr. Holt has mentored countless doctoral students and junior faculty. Many of whom have gone on to make significant impacts in the field of criminal justice and the advancement of cybercrime research.  

On receiving the award, Dr. Holt says, “I am truly honored to receive this award and must thank my colleagues and former students for nominating me. It has been amazing to watch students and colleagues be successful and make achievements that change their lives for the better. This recognition speaks to the importance and power of supporting others. Investing your time to help others grow their skills helps build community, strengthens the field, and improves the larger world.”
