School of Criminal Justice Advisor James Bradley has received the College of Social Science Undergraduate Affairs Office’s Rising Star of the Year Award!
This award is reserved for Advisors who have been with the College of Social Science for less than 5 years and have demonstrated commitment to student success and initiatives in the College. Recipients of the award are also nominated by their advising peers. Samantha Siwa, Advisor in the Department of Psychology, nominated Bradley for this award.
Dr. Mahesh Nalla, Interim Director of the School of Criminal Justice says that Bradley receiving this award exemplifies the strong contributions he has made to the School in his role as an Undergraduate Advisor. Nalla says “[James has] consistently gone above and beyond—especially in academic planning, responsiveness to students, and offering thoughtful, steady support. He’s also been innovative and creative in finding new ways to enhance the advising experience for undergraduates.”
Since joining the School, Bradley has re-launched the student organization National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice (a registered student organization that is open to all students at MSU regardless of race, creed, ethnicity, or major) and the School’s Student Ambassador Program. Both NABCJ and the Student Ambassador Program greatly enhance the engagement and community among the Criminal Justice student populations.
Bradley says “I am grateful to receive this award. I have to give credit to unit leadership, for their support and to the CJ Student Success Team that I have the privilege of working with. I couldn't ask for a better group of professionals to do this work with.”
