February 7, 2024 - JJ Thomas

The School of Criminal Justice’s Online Masters Program in Criminal Justice has been ranked 10th in the Nation by US News & World Report - our Online Masters Program was also ranked 5th in the Nation for Veterans. This marks the 8th year in a row that our program has been listed in the Top 10.

The School of Criminal Justice is also ranked in U.S. News and World Report’s Top 10 Best Criminology Schools – the only School in the Big 10 to be feature on both lists.

Dr. Chris Melde, Director of the School of Criminal Justice states “In an increasingly competitive online master's degree environment, our consistent ranking in the top 10 programs in the country is a testament to our faculty and instructors who continually innovate to meet the needs of a changing criminal justice field."

These latest rankings come at a time when the School just celebrated the 25th anniversary of the launch of our Online Masters Program in Criminal Justice. Our program was the first online program launched at MSU and the first ever online Masters Program in Criminal Justice offered.

Students enrolled in the Online Masters Program have the opportunity to learn from faculty with decades of combined experience in fields of study such as policing, terrorism & radicalization, community violence prevention, corrections, youth & crime, and cybercrime. Alumni from our online program have gone on to work for the private sector and public sector at the local, state, and federal levels.

Allison Rojek, Director of Online Programs says "Our continued ranking as a top 10 program speaks to the quality of our faculty and education provided to our students. To be ranked as #5 for Veterans is a point of pride for the School of Criminal Justice."

Thank you to all of our students, faculty, staff, and alumni who have built and represented the School of Criminal Justice and its programs.
