Rebecca began her doctoral studies in 2014. She holds a BA in sociology and criminology from Ohio University, and graduated with her MA in sociology from Ohio University in 2011. After receiving her Masters degree, Rebecca spent a year serving in the AmeriCorps program working with the American Red Cross. After completing her service year, Rebecca began working for the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, a position she held for two years before coming to MSU.

Her research interests include bullying and cyberbullying, juvenile delinquency, and youth violence. She serves as the president of the School of Criminal Justice's Graduate Student Association.
